Popularity of Taoism

Today Taoism is practiced by about five million people in China, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Vietnam. In 2001 there were 3,500 Taoists recorded in the census in England and Wales. (BBC, 2009). To this day, Taoism is still the most practiced in the place that it was originated. In China, Taoism is the oldest religion in its history.

Taoism is not the most common or popular religion. But the people who practice it believe in the easy way of life. Taoists believe in having a balanced life with the components of Yin and Yang. The people in China believe in living long and happy. (Chinese Culture, 2012).
